Lakers Defeat Grizzlies in Game 1 of Playoff Series
In the first game of their playoff series, the Los Angeles Lakers beat the Memphis Grizzlies. The Lakers had a six-point lead in the fourth quarter, but LeBron James and Anthony Davis didn't shoot the ball much. Instead, Rui Hachimura and Austin Reaves had fantastic performances and helped the Lakers secure the win. Hachimura came off the bench and scored 29 points, tying a Lakers playoff record for the most points by a substitute in a single game. Reaves also played well, scoring 23 points, including nine points in a row during the fourth quarter. The Lakers needed these supporting players to step up since Davis had to leave the game early due to a shoulder injury.

Hachimura and Reaves Shine as Lakers Win
Hachimura made four 3-point shots in the third quarter, and it turned out that the Grizzlies' defense had left him open. According to Desmond Bane of the Grizzlies, they had planned to make Hachimura take those types of shots. Reaves, who wasn't even drafted two years ago, performed incredibly well in the fourth quarter.
Supporting Players Step Up as Davis Leaves Game with Injury
Four players of Lakers scored 20 or more points in the game, which hadn't happened since 1988. The Lakers had won ten out of their last 12 games, but they didn't play well in their final regular-season games. They knew they had to focus more in the playoffs. Lakers coach Darvin Ham stated that they used their four-day break to get ready for the playoffs. James and Davis also talked to the team about playing harder in the playoffs, which seemed to help.
Even though the Lakers won the first game of the series, James believes that they can do even better. The Lakers have to be careful not to make mistakes that allow the Grizzlies to score points.
